One of my addictions is a nice cheese sandwich and while I use block cheese most of the time. Every now amd again I like to buy a pack of cheese slices. Yesterday I went and spent some time finding out how cheap items where in different places, and this is what I found.
Butter/margarine/soft spread, I do not really care what I buy, just as long as it is cheap. Yesterday the cheapest I could find was in Iceland Foods. £1 for 1KG, Tesco/Sainsburys/Asda did not even come close to that. While Aldi only had Sunflower Spread, 500G at 69p. So two of those would have been £1.38, that is 38p more expensive that Iceland.
Bread was pretty much the same. Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda, Aldi all had 40p bread.
As for cheese slices, Aldi was the best there at 79p for a pack of 10. Tesco was £1, while Sainsbury’s was £1.20.
Just goes to show, shopping around if you have the time does help and there is savings to be made if you look for them.
Anyway, the main point of this blog. Meter readings….
Weekly Standing Charge – £2
This week my water meter is showing a reading of 00050.464, this means I have used 0.175 units this last week. Very pleased with this as I am back under my 0.250 per week target again.
Gas meter this week is 3449 and as always, a £0 bill.
Reading this week is 00179 which means I used 5 units @ £0.1591 per unit = £0.84 (including VAT).
This is the 4th week now that I have been at 5 units and under the £1 mark. So happy with this. Also, as normal I have also rounded the 84p up to £1 so my SSE account can slowly climb into credit.
Till next time,
