Meter Reading Monday – 15th August 2014

Hey Guys,

So it’s happened, another company has gone under – Phones 4U. I’ve never really liked phone shops but I do feel sorry for this company as they have done nothing wrong at all.

So how did it happen?

Well Phones 4U sells phone contracts for 2 companies, Vodafone and EE (who also own the T-Mobile & Orange brand). Last week Vodafone said they were pulling the plug and would no longer be working with Phones 4U. So the company was left only being able to sell for 1 company, EE.

Late Friday night EE also said they would no longer be working with Phones 4U after the contract runs out next year. So what did Phones 4U have left?

Well 6 thousand staff, ??? stores, a sister company called Dial-a-Phone and nothing else, no goods to sell, no contracts to try and flog. As Vodafone and EE stopped phones 4U has nothing left.

While I understand mobile phone companies decide how they sell their contracts they have let a pretty large company go under and 6 thousand people lose there jobs just before xmas, it’s pretty shocking to be honest.

We just have to hope the rumours are true and BT or EE buy the company and save all these jobs.

Anyway lets get on with Meter Reading Monday……

Yorkshire Water

Weekly Standing Charge – £2

Units: This week my water meter reading is 00039.046, means I have used 0.235 units of water these last 7 days. I give myself a weekly target of 0.250 units a week I am under again, for the 3rd week running. Very happy with this.

Oh and as I have hit 00039 main units now I need to make the £3 payment for that 1 unit too.

YW (2)

Gas (Ebico / SSE)

Gas meter this week is 3449 and as always, a £0 bill.

Electricity (Ebico / SSE)

  • Rate 1 this week is unknown, Means I have used 0 units @ £0.1994 per unit = £unknown
Rate 2 this week is unknown, Means I have used 0 units @ £0.0733 per unit = £unknown

Total this week including VAT = £unknown

My man from SSE has been twice this week (Tuesday and Friday) to read the check meters and it’s all looking like this will be over soon, hopefully this next coming week the brand new meter will be installed, cool!

Till next time,
Newt x
